Storm chances return to the area...

Though today will be dry, a lot of models have a chance of storms from Thursday-Tuesday. I really don't buy it because of our lack of moisture. So, here are my thoughts on the chances of storms...
  • 10% chance of storms Thursday and Friday
  • 20% chance of storms Saturday
  • 30% chnace of storms Sunday
  • 40% chance of storms Monday
  • 20% chance of storms Tuesday

Throughout this period, humidities will remain fairly low for this time of year, and temperatures in the lower to mid 80s.

Wednesday, we will be back into the mid 80's with clear skies and low humidities...

A team from Jeffersonville, Indiana has made it to the Little League World Series. I happen to know one of the young men on the team (Chandler Dale), so this team will have my full alliegance heading into this year's World Series. Here is their schedule for pool play... (Jeffersonville is indicated as "Indiana")

  1. Indiana vs. Maryland: Friday at 8pm on ESPN
  2. Indiana vs. Louisiana: Sunday at 3:30pm on ABC (HD)
  3. Indiana vs. Washington: Tuesday at 2pm on ESPN

They need to win 2 of these 3 games to advance...

Beautiful streak of weather continues...

After today, we will have one last day of nice weather (tomorrow). The weather will be just the same as today with highs in the lower 80's.

Thursday-Monday, there is a chance of storms every day as moisture values increase slightly. Over this period, temps will still be in the lower 80's, but a chance of storms exists each day.

Tuesday, things should clear out and we will return to our wonderful weather pattern, as the highs will be around 80.

Back from camp...

I have returned from summer camp (which was great)...I tried to get a few lightning shots of the sky lighting up with a disposable camera (not easy), but I think I may have 2 good ones. No digital cameras were allowed by campers, so I have to have these pics put onto a CD.

Anyway, there is a lot of humidity in the air today, and with that there is a chance for isolated showers through tomorrow morning. Tonights lows will be in the upper 60's with highs tomorrow in the mid 80's.

Friday-Tuesday will be great days with highs in the 80-85 degree range and lows in the 57-62 degree range (free A/C range).

Note that some computer models bring a chance of storms into the area Sunday night-Tuesday, but will leave that out of the forecast for now.

I think our next chance for rain will be next Wednesday, as humidity is sufficient for a few storms...

Heat and humidity for the beginning of next week...

Sunday will be an average summer day with dewpoints in the lower 60's and highs in the upper 80's to lower 90's. However, with light winds, there is an AQ Alert for tomorrow, so sensitive groups should not spend much time outside.

Expect more AQ alerts Monday and Tuesday...Monday's highs will be in the lower to mid 90's with dewpoints in the middle 60's, but light winds will keep air pollution high. Monday's heat indices could rise to near 100.

CODE Red for Tuesday...

Tuesday will be the climax of the weather of the past 2-3 weeks, with temperatures rising to the middle 90's to 100 degree temps possible in some spots. A heat advisory may also be put out for Tuesday, as dewpoints in the lower 70's may cause heat indices to rise to 105 degrees!!!

Tuesday night will begin the breaking of this hot pattern. We are in a 30% severe weather risk from the SPC for Tuesday. Damaging winds are likely to be the main threat with this, but we will have to see how it evolves.

Wednesday and Thursday will hold a chance of lingering showers. Rain cooled highs will be in the middle 80's.

Next Friday-Saturday will be sunny with highs in the middle to upper 80's, and much very comfortable humidity levels...

Jump into severe...

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of our area until 1am Saturday morning...winds to 70mph and hail to 1.5 inches in diameter area possible.

The best threat out of these storms in damaging winds.

Though I do not anticipate this to be a major event, and that it doesn't look like much right now, there is the possiblility of a few damaging wind gusts within the watch area. The best time for this would be between 10pm and 1am over our area.

These storms are just getting started, so use the links on my blog for more info as these storms fire...

Meanwhile, Saturday and Sunday will be warm but not humid with highs in the lower 90's.

However, Monday and Tuesday are a different story...highs will be in the UPPER 90's and dewpoints will rise into the upper 60's, making heat indices to near 105!!! People should not spend to much time outdoors on these days, as maximum exposure to this kind of heat can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The SPC has a risk of severe weather for southern Indiana on Wednesday, as a front comes to wipe out this hot streak. The storms could be severe. Wednesday-Thursday's highs will be in the upper 80's to lower 90's, but very humid on Wednesday. The humidity will begin to decrease Thursday.

Next Friday will be less humid and in the middle 80's with clear skies.
