Concerning the Sunday-Monday snow...I'm still thinking that we will see some snow, but accumulations look to be SMALL, because of the warm and wet ground. If this forecasts holds, however, we would get at least a minor(1") accumulation on Monday.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!!
You may notice the snow chances suddenly bouncing up onto the 7-day forecast. Some people are saying this could be a huge snowstorm for us, but I'm not buying this forecast at all. It's obvious that people are excited for the first chance of a real good snow, and they want to make the most of the forecast. Computer models are trending to take this storm to our east. I might turn out to be wrong, but for now, the snow chances will stay LOW!!!

A note on my forecasts: I always forecast for what the area will see on average in the area. Many television stations, as they are required, forecast for the official station, which is the airport. The airport is much warmer, especially on sunny days, than an area average. So, my forecasts temps will almost always be lower than a TV station.

The chance of rain on Friday night is more or less diminishing. Some models continue to show a chance of rain with less than 1/4" accumulations, so I will keep the rain chance in for now...

A few notes: Correction: Date on top should be 11-24-08. Tomorrow morning could hold a few snow flurries/showers.

As promised, I now bring you Marc Weinberg's winter prediction:

"I think we must look to the prevailing long wave pattern to determine what to expect. There has been a prevailing east coast trough with ridging in the west. In my opinion, the oceanic heat currents will not change or be strong enough to alter that. To me that would be a near or slightly below normal winter on the temperature front and near normal to slightly below normal in precip."

Please note that the rain chance for Sunday has a moon behind it, meaning that it is a NIGHTTIME rain chance only (the same thing goes for Friday).
Coming Monday: Marc Weinberg's thoughts on our winter...

Now ushering in a new era on this blog...

GRAPHICAL FORECASTS!!!

This way, I don't have to explain the forecast word by word, and it is in a compact way for you to easily see and understand. I should be able to bring a new one to you, the readers of the blog every day. Note: This does not mean that I won't write anything anymore, I just simply won't write as much. If I need to clarify something on the forecast, or there is a major weather event, I will tell you of it in DETAIL, as always.

For example, on the below 7 day forecast, there will not be snow flurries all day. The sun will actually appear tomorrow afternoon, so it won't be cloudy all day. There's only so much I can show you on a graphic.
As is typically on many weather forecast, you have the conditions for the day, a precip % chance, and high/low temps (respectively) on the graphic.
Don't think that Sunday is a rain out, the best chance will be late afternoon-night, and into Monday. Temps for Saturday may need to be taken down further into the 30s.
And on the day I begin graphical forecasts, snow falls!!! The accumulation is only a dusting, but it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! It's only 35 days away...

Dry weather persists...

Through Saturday, it will be dry. Highs Wednesday-Thursday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s, with lows in the low-mid 20s!!! Friday-Saturday will have highs in the lower-mid 40s, with lows in the mid-upper 20s.

Sunday-Monday have a slight rain/snow chance, while temperatures will stay about level with the rest of the week. Lows will rise slightly into the upper 20s.

Tuesday-Wednesday will have dry conditions again. Highs will be in the mid 40s with lows in the mid-upper 40s.

Not much forecast change...

The workweek will continue to be dry, with highs in the 40-45 degree range and lows around 30.

Some showers will enter into the forecast for the weekend, but expect temps to be the same. For this reason, some snow may mix in with the rain at night.

The beginning of next week will hold dry weather yet again with temps remaining in the mid 40s.

Monday, November 17, 2008: 7pm

We had about an inch of rain over the weekend, followed by a burst of snow today. The next 7 days, however, will be calm.

Tomorrow will be very cold with clearing skies. Highs will only reach the middle 30s.

Wednesday-Saturday will have sunny skies with highs in the 43-48 degree range. Lows will be in the 25-30 degree range.

Sunday-Monday will have cloudier skies with a slight chance of rain, but I will leave it out of the forecast for now. Highs will be in the upper 40s for this period.

Quick update... (see previous post for full forecast)...

It will rain tonight through tomorrow, yes, even for the Louisville/Cincinnati game tonight. We could get 1/2-3/4 of an inch, but some isolated places could get up to an inch...

With all this talk of snow tomorrow, I will reiterate again that there should be NO ACCUMULATION!!!

Thursday, November 13, 2008: 5pm

The rain will soon return...

Tomorrow afternoon and night will bring rain along with it as a cold front approaches. Highs tomorrow afternoon will be in the mid-upper 50s, and that is the highest temp we will see in a long time. Rain will continue throught Friday night and into Saturday early morning. We could get up to another inch of rain due to this rain...

Saturday will bring a mixed bag of precipitation. Temps Saturday will not rise at all, they will fall all day. Winds could be up to 35mph as well, making it feel like below freezing all day. By nightfall, actual temps will be in the lower 30s. An abundance of moisture will remain over the area on Saturday. Thus, Saturday morning will have rain, changing to a mix of rain/snow in the afternoon. Finally, it will change to all snow Saturday night. I do not expect an accumulation, but we could have a dusting out of this...

Sunday-Wednesday will bring dry but much colder temperatures. Highs Sunday will be in the mid-upper 30s!!! Highs Monday-Tuesday will be around 40, with Wednesday's highs up to near 45.

Thursday, I will introduce a chance of rain/snow, with highs in the lower-mid 40s.

Rain to stay in the forecast...

Tonight will bring a substancial amount of rain to the area. We could see up to an inch of rain tonight with continuous rain through the night. Because of this, temps will not cool much.

We may see some clearing tomorrow afternoon, but scattered showers are still possible. Temps will be a little warmer with highs in the mid-upper 50s. If we get some sunshine, temps may reach into the 60s!

Friday will be a day when our temperatures take a big freefall. A strong cold front will approach from the west. Rain will be likely again from the afternoon through the nighttime. Highs Friday will be in the upper 50s, but by Saturday morning, temps will be in the 30s.

Saturday will pose an interesting weather day. Highs will most likely not make it to 40 degrees. Winds will make it feel below 30 degrees most of the dayWith moisture still in place, rain and snow showers will be scattered about during the day Saturday. No accumulation is likely, but slick roads may develop Sunday morning as temps dip below freezing.

Sunday may have some scattered flurries, but the cold will be the issue. Highs Sunday under partly cloudy skies will remain in the upper 30s for the second straight day.

Monday-Wednesday look dry and clear with highs still cold in the lower-mid 40s, meaning lows will be in the upper 20s.

Rain continuing through the rest of the week...

Tomorrow-Friday will continue to hold a chnace of rain over our area. The best chance seems to be overnight tomorrow night. Otherwise, it will be cloudy with scattered showers. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid-upper 40s, with highs Thursday in the lower 50s. Highs Friday may reach the mid 50s. By the time this rain event is said and done, we could have up to 1.5" of rain (HPC).

Friday night, a strong cold front will move through the area. Highs Saturday will be only in the lower 40s, but with winds, it will feel more like 32!!! Then is also a potential for rain and snow showers on Saturday, and especially snow on Saturday night. I do not think this will be an accumulation, but it will be fun to see snow yet again (cross your fingers). Highs Sunday under cloudy skies will be in the mid-upper 30s, with scattered snow showers.

Monday and Tuesday will have clearing skies, but highs will remain cold with temps in the low-mid 40s...

Monday, November 10, 2008: 5pm

A rainy week ahead...

The next week is expected to be dull and rainy, so be prepared for it! Beginning tomorrow morning, rain will be scattered across the area. This rain will continue off and on until at least Friday, as small systems ride the jet stream and into our area. It is hard to tell when the best chance for rain will be, but it will most likely be sometime Wednesday-Thursday. Highs through Friday will be in the upper 40s-lower 50s when it is not raining.

Some models are indicating that systems will continue to ride along the front this weekend. However, temps will be colder, with highs only in the lower 40s. This means that we could have a wintery mix this weekend, so stay tuned...

Early next week, it will be cold, with highs around 40, but things will finally begin to clear up and dry up...

The next few to be clear and cold...

Saturday-Monday will be dry and clear, but temps will struggle to make it to 50 degrees. Highs will likely stay in the upper 40s.

Tuesday-Friday will bring a small chance of rain every day. The highs will be in the lower 50s, bringing a cold rain to the area. Things may finally start to wind down by Friday...

Rain chance coming up tomorrow...

Tomorrow will still be warm like today, but clouds will be increasing in afternoon. Highs will be around 75. With an approaching cold front, showers and possibly storms will be scattered around the area tomorrow evening and overnight. We may get up to a 1/2" of rain with this system, but nothing major.

The biggest impact will be the cooldown. Friday will have highs in the mid-upper 50s, with Saturday-Monday only having highs around 50 or just above. Dry weather will prevail throughout this period.

Another chance of rain comes up the middle of next week. It would be a cold rain, with highs in the middle 50s.

Quick weather update...

The forecast is unchanged from yesterday, with clear skies tomorrow, a chance of storms on Thursday. It will be much cooler Friday with rain. Saturday-early next week will be dry, but temps will be in the 50-55 degree range...

Monday, November 3rd, 2008: 8pm

Tomorrow is Election Day, and the weather will be perfect for getting out to vote.
It will be sunny all day long, with temps around 50 at 6am, 70 at noon, and 69 as the polls close at 6pm. This Election Day, you can't blame the weather if you don't vote, so take advantage of your right and vote!!! Choose who you want to run your state and your country!!!!

The weather will be fine on Wednesday as well, with temps in the lower to mid 70s.

Thursday and Friday could bring about some more summer like weather, with a chance of storms arriving on Thursday evening. This chance of rain will linger into Friday as well. Will there be severe? Remember the post that I did talking about the moisture needed to produce severe. We don't have enough moisture, and more than likely won't. Nevertheless, we could get up to a 1/2 inch of rain with this system. Tmeps will vary greatly between Thursday and Friday, with highs Thursday around 70 and highs Friday just in the lower 50s.

Saturday will be a cloudy day in the morning with clearing skies later in the day. However, I would be surprised if temps got much past 50 degrees. Sunday and Monday will have clear skies and highs in the lower 50s.

GO VOTE TOMORROW!

Saturday, November 1, 2008: 12pm

The weather will be dry and warm with temps near 70 through Wednesday. The next front will begin to move in on Thursday, bringing us a chance of rain. Temps will fall into the 50s by Friday.
