The 4th of July may be spared...
I'm breaking up the post today into southern Indiana and central Kentucky...
Southern Indiana:
Isolated showers are expected this afternoon-evening. Overnight, a low pressure system and a sagging stationary front will combine to bring a potential for heavy rain, especially overnight-Friday morning. 1-2 inches will be likely overnight tonight.
The front will then move south, leaving only isolated storms in the forecast for afternoon and evening activities on the 4th...
I bumped down the rain totals because it looks as if this stationary front will get out of southern Indiana by early Saturday.
Central Kentucky:
Isolated showers are possible this afternoon-overnight. A greater chance of showers and storms will exist beginning Friday morning as the front slides southward.
However, Louisville's rain chances will decrease by late afternoon, leaving outdoor plans for the 4th okay.
South of the Bluegrass Parkway, however, expect showers/storms to continue over Campellsville, Leitchfield into the evening hours.
Overall, around 1/2 to 3/4 inches can be expected over north-central Kentucky, with around 1 inch south of that...
The forecast now for the rest of the 7-day period is as follows:
Saturday afternoon-Tuesday: No hazards
Wednesday-Thursday: Isolated storm chance.
