STORM ALERT: Sunday, September 14, 2008: 8am

Storm alert mode begins now...

Today's storm alert is for the remnants of Hurricane Ike heading towards our area. With temperatures in the middle to upper 80s, dewpoints near 70, and winds to 45mph, there will be plenty of instability for storms to develop in the heat of the afternoon as Ike approaches.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in a 5% chance of tornadoes this afternoon and evening...which is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. Also, a wind advisory is in affect from 10am today-8pm today. Winds are expected to gust to up to 45mph. Also, amounts of rain up to 1 inch are possible...

As the remnants of Ike interact with a cold front, storms will develop. With the rotation of Ike, some isolated tornadoes and wind damage are possible this afternoon...stay tuned for more during this storm alert...
